Back to Current Positions Level II Systems Engineer IPSCO Koppel Tubulars is seeking a Level II Systems Engineer for our Baytown, Texas pipe and tube finishing facility. This position will be responsible for a variety of software engineering and process engineering functions including: analyzing process performance, development and design of process changes, managing the implementation of process improvements and project management of related engineering activities. Qualifications: Bachelor of Science degree in electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, computer programming, or related scientific field. Minimum of 5 years experience programming industrial process control systems. Intimate knowledge of process interactions between control layers and physical processes in a manufacturing facility. Sound engineering and economic judgment and discretion due to the physical and economic impact recommendations will have on the overall operation of the Plant. Equipment and process knowledge including industrial control computer processors, multi-tasking operating systems, real time communications systems, programmable logic controllers and the ability to integrate them into a working process control system. Proficiency in HMI programming such as INTELLUTION. Good problem solving, organizational and communication skills, both oral and written. Project management experience. These skills are desirable: Experience working with Ethernet, ARCNET or CONTROL NET real time communications systems and Siemens or Allen Bradley Programmable Logic Controllers. Usage and administration of Microsoft Operating Systems (Windows 2000/XP/Server 2000/2003). Distributed Level 1 systems knowledge (RSViewSE, Wonderware, etc.). Networking knowledge and troubleshooting ability (TCP/IP, Novell, Decnect (HP), etc.). Networking hardware knowledge (switches/routers). Relational database knowledge (Oracle, SQL Server, Access, etc.). Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma Concepts.
