Level II Systems Engineer

IPSCO Koppel Tubulars is seeking a Level II Systems Engineer for our Baytown, Texas pipe and tube finishing facility.

This position will be responsible for a variety of software engineering and process engineering functions including: analyzing process performance, development and design of process changes, managing the implementation of process improvements and project management of related engineering activities.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor of Science degree in electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, computer programming, or related scientific field.
  • Minimum of 5 years experience programming industrial process control systems.
  • Intimate knowledge of process interactions between control layers and physical processes in a manufacturing facility.
  • Sound engineering and economic judgment and discretion due to the physical and economic impact recommendations will have on the overall operation of the Plant.
  • Equipment and process knowledge including industrial control computer processors, multi-tasking operating systems, real time communications systems, programmable logic controllers and the ability to integrate them into a working process control system.
  • Proficiency in HMI programming such as INTELLUTION.
  • Good problem solving, organizational and communication skills, both oral and written.
  • Project management experience.
These skills are desirable:
  • Experience working with Ethernet, ARCNET or CONTROL NET real time communications systems and Siemens or Allen Bradley Programmable Logic Controllers.
  • Usage and administration of Microsoft Operating Systems (Windows 2000/XP/Server 2000/2003).
  • Distributed Level 1 systems knowledge (RSViewSE, Wonderware, etc.).
  • Networking knowledge and troubleshooting ability (TCP/IP, Novell, Decnect (HP), etc.).
  • Networking hardware knowledge (switches/routers).
  • Relational database knowledge (Oracle, SQL Server, Access, etc.).
  • Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma Concepts.
