To Montpelier Fire Department
Montpelier, Iowa, February 24, 2005 - IPSCO Steel Inc. announced today a donation of $50,000 to the Montpelier Fire Department. The money will be put towards the department’s capital campaign to build a new fire station.
The Montpelier Fire Department is IPSCO’s first responder in the event of a fire at the Steelworks and like many businesses, IPSCO relies on this important service. The Company wanted to provide a substantial donation to kick-start the building project and alleviate some of the fundraising pressure.
“We are pleased this donation will help provide a new home for the volunteer fire service so these individuals can focus on providing aid when urgently needed in our community,” said Richard Acquaviva, President of IPSCO Steel Inc. “IPSCO believes very strongly in giving back to the communities in which it operates and we are particularly proud to be helping an organization like the Montpelier Fire Department, which also serves our employees and neighbors who live in this district.”
The $50,000 donation will be paid out over a five-year period, beginning in 2005.
IPSCO Steel Inc. is a subsidiary of IPSCO Inc. (NYSE/TSX: IPS), a North American steel producer. The Company has facilities in both the United States and Canada and offers a wide range of high strength steel and pipe products.
