Receives Achievement in Community Involvement Award
May 18, 2005 – IPSCO is pleased to announce its subsidiary IPSCO Steel - Montpelier received a special honor from the Steel
Manufacturers Association (SMA) by being presented with its Achievement in Community Involvement Award in recognition for contributions to its local Iowa communities.
Accepting the Award for IPSCO was David Sutherland, President and Chief
Executive Officer. "This facility displayed an earnest commitment to the community through donations of time and money to several local chapters of charity organizations, including the United Way, Red Cross, and the Montpelier Volunteer Fire Department", the SMA said.
IPSCO's Montpelier Works also provided support to its sister facility in Mobile, Alabama during the hurricane which made landfall near the mill in 2004.
The SMA presents this annual award to acknowledge community involvement of the minimill steel industry. The award was presented during the SMA's annual members conference in Washington D.C.
